Healthy Foods You Can Still Find at the Grocery

You might be asking if following a meal plan is possible…the answer is yes, it IS. You just have to get a little more creative.

The grocery routine may have changed, but there are still ways to eat a nutritious diet. We’ve been providing recipes to you that help you be flexible if the grocery is sold out, so check that out. (More recipes are located at the bottom of our blog page.) It’s always better to eat whole foods, but if they are hard to come by, we have some ways to eat healthy during the Coronavirus outbreak.

The key, especially if you’re limiting trips to the store, is stocking up on non-perishables. These foods, like canned goods, pastas and rice, will give you a lot of versatility in the kitchen and help you plan your meals for the week. Yes, many of our FASTer Way recipes are centered around chicken, shrimp, turkey and other meats. But also preach being FLEXIBLE.

These are some healthy foods with a long shelf life so there is no need for you to hoard and clean out the grocery. Plus, they’re FASTer Way approved!

Canned Goods Can Be Your Friend

In general, limiting processed foods is what we preach, beans and legumes are a healthy way to get protein into your recipes. Take our Burrito Bowl recipe for example. With a healthy scoop of black beans, it is perfect for regular macro day and serves four.

Nut Butters Are an Easy Way to Get Protein

Packed with protein and healthy fats, these spreadable foods go great with fruits, vegetables, breads and more. There are plenty of alternatives for those with allergies, like sun butter, made from sunflower seeds.

Break Your Fast with Steel Cut Oats

Perfect for breaking your fast, these antioxidant-rich whole grains are the perfect vehicle for fruit, cheese or even eggs. If you’re short on time, no problem. We have a handy Banana Bread Overnight Oats recipe that’s simple and easy for regular macro day.

Use Eggs Throughout the Day

Speaking of these oblong ovals, eggs have a pretty long shelf life compared to other refrigerated goods. And they’re pretty versatile too. Try this Egg White Bites recipe for a poppable snack that will give you a healthy bite later in the day. They have 9 grams of protein and 5 grams of carbs, making them a great boost to your day. Or try Eggs Over Easy With Spinach and Chopped Vegetables for a hearty meal you can serve for lunch or dinner.

Freeze Your Bread

If you want to buy a loaf or two more than normal, that’s fine! Store your bread, wraps and pockets in the freezer and they will keep for about three to six months.

We believe in being a positive influence on the world around you. That was true before the Coronavirus. That is true during the Coronavirus. And it will be true after it. When you sign up with the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program, you get access to a library of workout videos and recipes focused on carb-cycling, intermittent fasting and macronutrients.
